30 Day Lord’s Prayer Challenge
So I’m beginning a 30 Day Lord’s Prayer Challenge today on May 14, 2014 and thought you might like to join me. You never know what God might do through many of us joining together in unity through the prayer Jesus taught us to pray.
The idea is to practice the following for 30 days:
1. Pray: Pray The Lord’s Prayer each day for 30 days.
2. Journal: Commit your thoughts about The Lord’s Prayer and journal however the Holy Spirit prompts you each day.
3. Respond: Respond with action to the promptings of obedience you receive from the Holy Spirit through The Lord’s Prayer.
4. Share: Share your experience as a witness to what God is doing through you praying The Lord’s Prayer.
Today is Day #1 for me and I will try to keep my notes brief. I immediately think back to memorizing The Lord’s Prayer as a little girl in my few years of Catholic experience. I memorized it in The King James version from the book of Matthew 6:9-13 in the Bible (Matthew includes “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.) Just one thing I am really pondering today is “Our Father.” Right away I am reminded of the community found in the word “our.” I’m not on this journey as a believer alone. My brothers and sisters in Christ are with me, or should be. A common bond we share is He is “Our Father” together. This alone should cause us to draw near to one another, to cause me to want to draw near to other believers. My obedience prompting is to pray for others who feel alone, who feel as if they can’t call out to God as their Father, and who feel as if they don’t belong to local church. My prayer is that they will reach out to God, a church, or a pastor for help.
